European networks, organizations and initiatives focusing on Ecotourism, Responsible Travel, Sustainable Tourism

DestiNet – Sustainable Tourism Information Portal is tourist destination information service that supports networking of various sustainable tourism stakeholders. DestiNet is jointly administrated by the European Environment Agency (EEA), ECOTRANS a European network of experts and organisations in the tourism sector, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and the World Tourism Organization (UN WTO).

ECEAT – European Centre for Ecological and Agricultural Tourism is the leading European organisation in the field of small-scale sustainable tourism with a special attention to rural areas and organic farming.

Eco-Destinet – a network developin a European Quality Label for Ecotourism Destinations  is a project co-funded by the European Commission under the Lifelong Learning Programme. Eco-Destinet initiative prodused a training package for trainers of ecotourism providers wishing to apply the labelling standards of the European Ecotourism Labelling Standard EETLS across Europe.

EDEN – European Destinations of Excellence is a project promoting sustainable tourism development models across the European Union. The project is based on national competitions that take place every year and result in the selection of a tourist “destination of excellence” for each participating country.

Ecoclub – is ecotourism network working for social & ecological change through & within Tourism & offering real benefits to communities, the self-employed, small-businesses, eco practitioners, academics & students.

EuroGites -  the European Federation for Farm and Village Tourism

PAN Parks – Foundation set out to protect Europe’s wilderness by creating a network of large well-managed wilderness protected areas which would provide a unique experience for visitors; and benefits for local communities. These certified parks all include a significant wilderness area in their core.

WHL Travel – network of small local tourism businesses, running local destination booking sites, committed to promoting and supporting the development of sustainable tourism.
